The Benson High School first ‘Students of the Month’ were announced at the high school assembly on Friday, August 23rd, by high school counselor Kristy Reynolds.   The character trait for August 2013 was responsibility.

Freshman Keegan Graf was nominated by his English teacher JoAnne Ellsworth.  “Keegan asks questions during class, comes in after school for clarification and to review the homework,” Mrs. Ellsworth said.  Keegan participates in football, wrestling, and baseball.

Sophomore Preslee West was nominated by her history teacher Dwain Hinskey.  “She is the most responsible student I have ever had,” Mr. Hinskey said.  Preslee is a member of the Future Farmers of America.

Junior Mikhaila Steninger was nominated by her advanced English teacher Eric Grizzle.  “She’s well-adjusted, mature, and always prepared for class,” Mr. Grizzle said.  “Junior year is a tough year with a lot of work and things to remember.  Mikhaila makes staying afloat effortless.”  Mikhaila is a member of the Academic Team, the National Honor Society, and the literary magazine, and she participates in tennis.

Senior David Olivarez was nominated by his government teacher Marv Sorenson.  “David is a responsible and motivated student,” Mr. Sorenson said.  David participates in soccer, wrestling, and track and field and he is a member of the Book Club.

The September ‘Students of the Month’ quality is respect.
